Kokedama Balls

Kokedama in Japanese means moss ball.  A form of bonsai, the succulent or cactus is placed in my special soil mixture and covered with moss recycled from my neighbors garden and wrapped with twine.

Some of my customers have had the kokedama originally purchased 7 years ago!  The trick to keep them flourishing is in the watering process.  These are not like regular house plants that are watered weekly; they are desert plants and should be watered ONLY when the bottom of the "ball" is completely dry. watering weekly will rot their roots and they will die.  To water your kokedama, submerge the entire kokedama including the plant, in water for 20-30 minutes then squeeze out the excess water.  Frequency in waterings is based on the plant location and type.  Typically between waterings, succulents will be 2 - 2.5 weeks and cactus' between 4 - 6 weeks.

So versatile, they can be hung with fishing line for a floating garden look, set in an antique tea cup, on a plate with black river rocks or displayed hanging in a special ceramic kokedama holder I display and sell in my booth.

My stained glass succulents on on bottom of the page are for people that kill everything!
